2024 Florida CDL License Requirements
Florida CDL Class A License
Any combination of vehicles with a GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
Example – Tractor trailer, Double trailer, or triple trailer combination.
Tests required to pass - General knowledge test, Combination endorsement test, and the Air brakes test.
Florida CDL Class B License
Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
Example – Most straight trucks, dump trucks, vacuum trucks, crane trucks, and cement trucks.
Tests required to pass - General knowledge test, usually the air brakes test.
Florida CDL Class C License
Any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that is not a class A or B, but is made to transport 15 or more passengers, including the driver, or is transporting material hazardous materials.
Example – Coach bus, Shuttle van, or a school bus.
Tests required to pass - General knowledge test, (optional) air brakes endorsement, passenger endorsement, (optional) school bus endorsement.
